I am an interior designer. I qualified in 1987 and have been practising ever since. Most of my projects have been renovating/redecorating homes but I have had some interesting corporate jobs too. After university I worked for Everard Read in his art gallery and once I had qualified as an interior designer, I continued to work with him, developing private and corporate art collections and still do. In 1998 we designed the original Colonial Paddle Fan. Simplicity, elegance, and excellence are the underlying principles and we’ve earned a reputation for handcrafting superb quality ceiling fans for the discerning consumer. Our production is limited: each and every fan is made to order by our small team. Handcrafted quality takes time and effort but the end result is well worth it. Our finishing is second to none and every component is important to us.

My business is wallpaper. We have showrooms in JHB and Durban and specialise in wallpaper printing and supply. We have many thousands of designs and if we don’t have it we will source it. Wallpaper murals are hugely popular and we print anything from Manhattan scenes, forests and corporate images with logos to family collage. On the website there is also have an enormous range of wall stickers and vinyls which are extremely popular, as they can update a room in minutes and can be removed with no damage.

    Toni Burton (Spiller)

Zizamele Ceramics started as a MAPPP-SETA sponsored learnership at the False Bay College, Noordhoek campus. The learnership consisted of an 18-month training and a 6 months Learn-and-Earn phase. During this period the trainees and their trainer, Toni Burton, designed products which were then marketed. They decided to call themselves Zizamele Ceramics – Zizamele meaning “to develop.”
