This morning in chapel Rev Susan spoke about the Isle of Iona, a small island off the West Coast of Scotland. The island has been a Christian worship centre for over 1500 years and pilgrimages to this island are carried out by people from all over the world. There is a Celtic flavour to worship on the Island and as with all Celtic worship, the focus is on the connection between God, people, creation, justice and peace. There is no separation between church and secular life, with all things intertwined with God. When they worship, they use the same words of prayer every day so that they become deep seated in their minds and therefore said from the depths of a person’s heart. Rev Sue used some of these beautiful prayers in chapel this morning, followed by a quiet time to reflect on God.
