IN CHAPEL THIS MORNING
The parable of the wheat and the weeds tells us that the gospel comes to us with clutter around it. Sometimes the weeds or clutter put people off so when they uproot the weeds the gospel goes too. Since the gospel came to Southern Africa with colonialism this happens today. Rev Sue reminded us that that there are stories in the Bible of Egypt, Ethiopia and North Africa, that the early church in North Africa put Christianity together as a religion. She reminded us that gospel is for all people. Our challenge is to distinguish the essence from the packaging.
