IN CHAPEL THIS MORNING
Rev Sue spoke on the theme of “Waiting”. We often focus on the future and lose patience with waiting for events to take place. Rev Sue pointed out that through our society of instant gratification we decreased our capacity to wait. Author Faye Kellerman likens this lack of ability to wait to toddlers who stamp their feet when things do not happen immediately, and as a result, lose their sense of wonder. In the formation of a butterfly, the caterpillar goes into the cocoon and at just the right time, a butterfly emerges. Likewise, waiting for us should be a time of growth, even if we do not understand the process at the time. Rev Sue urged us to be present, accept and appreciate where we are at and enjoy life in the now.
