IN CHAPEL THIS MORNING

Chapel this morning was taken by Devos, a group of girls who meet every week for a time of discussion, devotion and sharing. Their theme was “Self Love” and they encouraged the girls to see themselves as God sees them – beautiful and unique. Once we love ourselves, we find it much easier to love others as God commands us to do. It is important not to compare ourselves to others but to recognise that we all have different talents and abilities. God wants us to aspire to be different and to recognise our worth. Making friends can be daunting, and we often feel insecure, and fear being rejected. As a result, we may try to always please others to the detriment of our own personalities. Acceptance from God is what is most important, and we must realise that God loves each of us just as we are.

IN CHAPEL THIS MORNING

Rev Susan’s topic this morning was “The Shift to Relationship with God”. She shared her own personal story of how she shifted from a vague knowledge of God to having a deep and meaningful relationship with Him. Sometimes we carry baggage or guilt which prevents us from getting to know Jesus better. We need to treat Jesus as our very best and closest friend so that His presence becomes real in our lives. When we have this special relationship with Him we will want to spend more time getting to know Him better, the Bible becomes real and relevant to us, and the joy of the Lord becomes our strength. Rev Sue reminded the girls that God has a journey for all of us. As we move into this year, she encouraged the girls to grow into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with God.
