CANOEING
Congratulations to Emma Pennington, Gemma Fradd and Kim and Claire van Rooyen who all completed the 2021 Duzi Canoe Marathon. Despite the very tough conditions, the four girls did very well and can be proud of their achievement. Kim and Claire finished 2nd in the u18 K2 and Gemma and Emma were 3rd u18 K2. There were over 530 entries and of those only 32 were female boats (K1 and K2).
EQUESTRIAN
At the ESP show held at Shongweni, Philippa Erskine came second in the 1.10m Show jumping class, and Emily Barker came 3rd and 7th in the 1.25m events. Philippa also came first in both the elementary dressage classes at a previous event.
SWIMMING
Congratulations to Georgina Butcher who has been invited by Swimming South Africa to attend the “SA Olympic Trials” to be held in PE from the 6th – 12th of April. She will be fortunate enough to be competing against the top swimmers in South Africa (including overseas swimmers). Best of luck
SQUASH
The following girls travelled to Bloemfontein to compete in the Bloem Open SA ranking tournament from the 18th – 22nd of March and achieved the following rankings.
Under 14
- Imibongo Siyavuya – 16th
- Alexandra Uys – 10th
Under 16
- Ellena Chemaly-Sutherland – 6th
- Amy-Lee Strydom – 12th
- Ashley Upfold – 14th
Under 19
- Savannah Ingledew – 1st
The tournament is traditionally a very competitive event, catering for the top players in the country.
Special mention to Ashley Upfold who as her first year as an under 16, moved down 4 spots in her ranking to number 14. Well done to Ellena and Alexandra for their top 10 finish.
Congratulations to Savannah Ingledew who played as an under 16 in the under 19 section and finished as SA Champion of the event.
WATER POLO
Results from the Interhouse event that took place on Monday afternoon. Well done to all the girls who were involved and great spirit shown on the day.
