SMILE Sports Day August 2010
Annually the SMILE team puts together a fantastic Sports Day with Nogqaza School as a result of studying the section Fun and Games in their literacy sessions. One of the modules is even entitled Sports Day! With the emphasis on interactive learning, the day of races and team building is an apt and fitting end to some fabulous learning on the topic.
The Natal Witness: A personal Story

St Anne's College has embraced the notion that social responsibility is crucial to the development of a student, a school, a community and a nation. This belief has been translated into a formal department that actively seeks to create access to education, training, resources and expertise. The mission of the department is to offer all parties socially relevant opportunities that consciously involve them in their society and cultivate a mature perspective on what it means to be a part of a community. Further to this is the notion that school leavers of St Anne’s College can be distinguished from others, because they know their community, are a part of their community and have a heart for their community.
Practically, social responsibility plays out in partnerships between us and many organizations within our community. Foundational to these partnerships are sincere relationships, committed individuals, sustainable development and communal effort. The aims of this communal collaboration are:
- the softening of hearts towards people
- socially significant educational development
- partnerships of shared responsibility and vision
- access to excellent education.
- self-sustainable networks for schools
- further inter-relating between like-minded schools
- relating with our society in an effective capacity.
