Gap Students 

Situated in the heart of the Kwa-Zulu Natal Midlands, close to the Drakensberg Mountains and an hour’s drive from Durban’s sunny beaches, St Anne's DiocesanCollege is an Independent Girls’ Boarding School catering for pupils aged from 13 to 18 years.
St Anne's Diocesan College has provision for 2 Gap Students per year or 4 Gap Students for two 6 month semesters (dependent on application). Gap Students wishing to stay for a full year will receive precedence over 6 month placements. 


Requirements/Job Description 

Gap Students at St Anne’s are expected to help in the Administration Building and Sports Office in the mornings and then help with sports coaching and/or escorting in the afternoons, so this position would suit someone who is skilled at and has a love for sport.  Most weekends are free, although Gap Students are sometimes asked to help with duties, social events and sports fixtures over the weekend.  Gap Students, generally, do not do duties in the boarding houses.

Major sports offered at St Anne's Diocesan College include Swimming, Tennis, Squash, Netball, Basketball, Hockey, Cross Country, Athletics, Canoeing, Water Polo, Diving and Synchronised Swimming as well as a range of recreational activities such as Soccer, Volleyball and Rounders. Gap Students who offer one or more of these sports will be given preference when applications are received.


Accommodation/Payment 

The Gappers are accommodated in their own little self-contained cottage on the school property (consisting lounge, dining room, kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom) and their meals are provided by the school during term time.  Most of our gappers travel during the school holidays, but you may stay at school during the holidays if you so wish.

Gap Students are paid a monthly sum of approx R1,500.00 and are paid extra for escorting sporting teams to matches.  The salary is reviewed each year.
