THE ADMISSION PROCESS

Welcome to Admissions.

The Registration Fee is R250 and account details are below. You may register your daughter at any time; we currently have Registration Forms going up to 2022. If you would like a Prospectus posted to you, please e-mail your postal details (jcook@stannes.co.za) or telephone (+27 33 3436100 and ask for the Admissions Office).

Entrance/Scholarship Exams

Once registered, your daughter will be invited to write our Entrance/Scholarship Exams in her Grade 7 year. These exams, consisting of a Maths and an English paper, are held every May. This year they will be held on 6-7 May including a sleepover. Applications to write the exams (Form A) should reach us by April 2011.

Scholarships

Three Academic Scholarships are offered each year – one Major (worth 65% of the total fees) and two Minor (worth 40% of the total fees). The Scholarship exam is incorporated into our Entrance Exams; there is no separate Scholarship exam and you do not need to apply for entry.

St Anne’s also offers Music and Sports Scholarships (worth 33% of the total fees). These have to be applied for specifically. Shortlists are compiled and auditions and interviews will take place on May 2011.

St Anne’s has a number of official “feeder” schools to which we offer Closed Scholarships (worth 25% of the total fees) to the top candidate from that particular school. The award of these scholarships is based on the Entrance/Scholarship Exam results. The following schools are involved:

Auckland Park Prep (Johannesburg);

Clifton Prep School (Nottingham Road);

Cowan House (Hilton)

Kings School (Nottingham Road);

Laddsworth Primary School (Hilton);

St Katharine’s (Johannesburg);

Gratton Prep (Eshowe)

Musikili Prep (Zambia)

Pembroke House (Kenya)

Underberg Prep School (KZN)

In order to be eligible for a St Anne’s Scholarship, your daughter must write the Entrance/Scholarship Examination at St Anne’s College.

Bursaries

St Anne’s College is fortunate to have a bursary fund. A bursary is a form of financial assistance and is granted according to parents’ financial circumstances. Barring exceptional circumstances, a bursary does not exceed one third of the fees. Bursary application forms are available on request from Mrs Julie Cook - jcook@stannes.co.za Applications should reach us by April 2011.

Family connections

Family connections are taken into account to some extent, but it is important to remember that every girl has to go through the Admission process culminating in the Entrance Exams.

What else is required once my daughter is registered?

1. An interview, as a family, with the COLLEGE HEAD and a tour of the College. Appointments can be made through the COLLEGE HEAD’s Secretary, Mrs Barbara Strydom – bystrydom@stannes.co.za This should take place before the Entrance Exams.

2. A copy of your daughter’s full Grade 6 report as well as certificates, details of awards etc. relating to any aspect of her life.

Offer of places

Places for Grade 8 2012 will be announced towards the end of May. Parents may phone the College from 8.00am onwards or email Mrs Julie Cook. Scholarships are awarded and the outcome of Bursary applications is also relayed to parents at this time. A letter of offer and an Acceptance Form is posted out in the same week. Parents have until June 2011 to accept a place and pay the Enrolment Feeplease click here for Enrolment Fee details.

Joining St Anne’s in Grades other than Grade 8

At present the College is full and we have a waiting list. If you wish to place your daughter’s name on the list then you should submit a Registration Form, a copy of her latest full school report, a CV and a covering letter addressed to the COLLEGE HEAD, outlining your reasons for wanting to move your daughter to St Anne’s.
